What is A Lower Body Lift?

A lower body lift, also known as a belt lipectomy or circumferential body lift, is a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to address loose, sagging skin and excess fat around the lower body. This procedure is commonly sought by individuals who have undergone significant weight loss, either through bariatric surgery or other means, and are left with excess skin and tissue that cannot be adequately addressed through diet and exercise alone.

A lower body lift typically targets several areas of the lower body, including the abdomen, buttocks, hips, and thighs. The surgery involves removing excess skin and fat, lifting and tightening the remaining tissues, and contouring the body to create a more toned and youthful appearance. The incisions are usually made around the waistline, allowing the surgeon to access and address multiple areas at once.

The lower body lift is a major surgical procedure that requires general anesthesia and usually involves a more extended recovery period compared to other cosmetic surgeries. As with any surgery, there are risks involved, including infection, scarring, and potential complications associated with anesthesia. However, for some individuals who have struggled with loose skin after significant weight loss, a lower body lift can be a transformative procedure, providing them with a more proportionate and aesthetically pleasing body contour.

Abdominoplasty & Lower Body Lift:

Tummy tucks are often thought of as a procedure for postpartum women; however other factors for loose skin such as weight-loss and aging affect us all. Separation of the abdominal muscles can also result from lifting heavy weights incorrectly or performing excessive abdominal exercises. A lower body lift also removes excess skin on a patient’s backside.

Patient Overview:

The patient has concerns regarding laxity and excess skin on the abdomen, flanks, lower back, & buttocks. An umbilical hernia and diastasis of the abdominal muscle is also present.
